Pre-pandemic the tech world was steadily progressing, but it’s focus was more on commercial devices; then Covid 19 took center stage changing the world as we know it and accelerating innovation within both the tech and business world.
Many companies were forced to switch from having their employees in office to setting up a remote work model. Others opted for hybrid remote work models having some workers in office and others working remotely as per the covid 19 guidelines and restrictions. This new and sudden work model was not an easy transition. All companies found need for increased IT services to resolve a myriad of unpredictable technical issues that if not maintained would halt the businesses overall operations.
So, let us discuss:
- What were the biggest technical challenges?
- What did WE FIX IT as a small locally owned IT company in Darwin NT learn during this period.
- How did we use managed services to aid our customers and What benefits do managed services provide for our customers?

The list of challenges and managed services can go on and on but for WE FIX IT Darwin and for the sake of keeping this blog short we are highlighting one target area and that is cyber security.
- Almost one in five Australians fell prey to online scams during the Covid 19 Pandemic (9news, 2021).
- An estimated 15 million Australians received a scam text message in 2021 alone (9news, 2021).
- Mounting phishing attacks from compromised emails and ransomware attacks were listed among the most compromising threats in a recent study conducted by the Ponemon Institute.
What did WE FIX IT as a small locally owned IT company in Darwin NT learn during this period.
During the Covid 19 Lockdown and following Lockouts we learnt that the small businesses in Darwin, Palmerston and Coolalinga didn’t know what they may need to transition from in office work to remote work. For that reason, we stepped up and became a guiding force for these small/medium businesses to ensure their business continuity and our business relationships with them.
What are the best practices to overcome cybersecurity risks?
How did we use managed services to aid our customers and What benefits do managed services provide for our customers?
We adapted to better provide three key cyber security services
The adjustment period was not easy but now as not only the NT but the world has learnt remote working is the new norm and along with working remotely comes a myriad of security issues. We have learnt to plan for these issues, create contingency plans with our customers and most of all to ensure our IT services work with an agile approach so to not disrupt the customers business continuity while they work.
As we now move forward into 2022, we can all see that the world had adapted to working within the Covid 19 constraints we have been thrust into. New IT challenges will continue to arise and we as an IT company will continue to work with our customers to achieve the best possible outcome to these issues. It is a guarantee that technology innovation will continue to accelerate, and we look forward to the challenges ahead as a local IT Company here to support small, medium and large business in Darwin, NT Australia.
